Every year in July, we host a week-long North Carolina Defender Trial School, a trial skills program for public defenders and other criminal defense attorneys representing people who cannot afford a lawyer. We are seeking volunteers on Wednesday, July 9, from 9:00am-12:15pm. We will offer breakfast for jurors to get acquainted and organized. Please arrive between 8:00am-8:30am.
The deadline to register is Friday, June 27.
The attorney students will ask questions about volunteers’ experiences and views as if they were doing jury selection in one of their cases. Volunteers will go through various workshop groups of different attorney students. There will also be a chance to hear the instructors’ observations and offer insights into what worked well and what did not. This unique opportunity allows students to reflect, share, and engage with others who may have different perspectives.
