Five Years since the Coup in Myanmar

Come join the Carolina Asia Center for a discussion of the current state of Myanmar, five years since the coup that derailed the country’s democratization trajectory.
Associate Director Kevin Fogg will convene a panel of experts on and from Burma, including Napas Thein (McMillan Vantage, formerly of University of Toronto), with a roundtable discussion of issues like the state of the country’s civil war, the recent elections won by military-backed parties (called “neither free nor fair” by the Council on Foreign Relations), prospects for peace in the future, and how this conflict impacts our community in Chapel Hill.
