Understanding the Complexities of Today’s World with Dr. Yasuhiro Ueki
For those with an interest in international affairs, global studies, or policy research, The Graduate School warmly invites you to join us for an illuminating talk with Dr. Yasuhiro Ueki, a distinguished scholar and practitioner whose career spans decades of service with the United Nations and in academia. Dr. Ueki will give his talk, “Understanding the Complexities of Today’s World” on Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00-6:00 pm in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium within FedEx Global Education Center. Registration is highly recommended.
In this session, Dr. Ueki will examine how applied research and policy practice intersect to shape responses to some of the world’s most complex challenges. Drawing on lessons from the Iran-Iraq War, the Gulf War, and the Iraq War, he will explore the dynamic relationship between scholarship and real-world decision-making—revealing how historical context, interdisciplinary thinking, and institutional collaboration can inform effective global action today.
Attendees will gain fresh insights into how research can drive meaningful change in international policy, as well as practical strategies for integrating academic inquiry with lived experience in their own work.
This promises to be an engaging conversation at the nexus of history, policy, and global collaboration—one not to be missed.
